Thomas Miller Joins the Blue Visby Consortium Supporting Sustainability in the Shipping Industry
Thomas Miller, the international provider of market-leading insurance services, has announced it has joined the Blue Visby Consortium. The Consortium is working on the development of the Blue Visby Solution, an integrated technology platform with the aim of making shipping more sustainable.
Through its technology, Blue Visby aims to enable ships to lower their speed to optimise arrival time in port and significantly reduce waiting times at anchorage, thereby reducing GHG emissions. The platform also offers benefits such as reducing underwater noise pollution and whale strike risk, improving air quality outside ports, reducing the risk of collisions at busy anchorages.
Hugh Titcomb, CEO of Thomas Miller says:
“Thomas Miller is pleased to participate in the Blue Visby Consortium acting as an adviser with a specific focus on Corporate Governance and mutuality. We commend the aims of Blue Visby in helping to facilitate improved sustainability in the shipping industry.”
