Thomas Miller Team Complete the London to Brighton Cycle for Street Child
A huge congratulations to our seven Thomas Miller employees who completed the Skyline London to Brighton cycle ride on Sunday 10th September for our corporate charity partner, Street Child!
Our team (L-R)
- Amelia Burrows - Marketing Assistant, TT Club
- Anna Heane - Marketing Manager, TT Club
- Andy McGibbon - Senior Naval Architect, Brookes Bell
- Mike Farrell - Solicitor, Thomas Miller Law
- Chris Fenwick - Actuarial Analyst, UK P&I Club
- Patrick Ryan - Sustainability Director and Head of Club Secretariat, UK P&I Club
- Charles Fenton - Chief Executive Officer, TT Club
All seven cyclists successfully rode 55 miles, beginning in Clapham, London and cycling through the English countryside, tackling the gruelling Ditching Beacon and thereon finishing in Brighton.
The team were faced with a flash heatwave in the UK, riding in very humid conditions. We’ve put together a selection of quotes from our riders to sum up how they found the day:
“Cycling through the beautiful English countryside in the sunshine was a great way to spend a Sunday, and for such a worthy cause, I’m proud of the whole Thomas Miller team for absolutely smashing it!”
“I could think of no better opportunity to get back in the saddle than for such a brilliant cause, it was a challenging experience as not only was the sun beating down on us but I have never ridden anywhere near this far before! I can safely say the view was worth it and I would love to do it again.”
“It was certainly a tough day in the heat, but made easier as part of the Thomas Miller team…the small climb just after Ditchling was a cruel addition, but worth it for the run down into Brighton!”
The team have collectively raised an incredible £3,237 so far, well overachieving on their initial £2,000 target! There is still time to donate to them and you can do so here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/thomas-miller-londontobrighton-street-child
The majority of funds raised will be allocated to Street Child's programme in Afghanistan, which is currently aiming to support the recent dramatic economic suffering and trailblaze change against the significant narrowing of space for women in society. You can read more about Street Child's work in Afghanistan here: https://street-child.org/explore/afghanistan/. As we enter the final four months of our partnership, we are eking ever closer to our £50,000 employee-led fundraising target, and this event has been instrumental through its contribution – thank you to all involved.
