Thomas Miller Specialty – a flexible platform
Thomas Miller Specialty is a commercial Managing General Agency (MGA) created when Thomas Miller acquired the Osprey Underwriting Agency in 2015. The MGA draws on the strengths of both organisations and provides the clients of Thomas Miller Specialty a flexible and proven insurance platform from which to access specialty lines insurance products.
Each Product can be underwritten on policy forms specifically written to meet the needs of the insured.
International Reach
All of the products provided by Thomas Miller Specialty benefit from Thomas Miller’s international office and support network, enabling Thomas Miller Specialty to support brokers and clients with loss prevention, information and claims support, all around the world.
Insurance Products:
Protection and Indemnity
Protection and Indemnity insurance to owners of smaller craft and vessels on a fixed limit, fixed premium basis. A wide variety of vessel types and operations are catered for including tugs, barges, fishing vessels and vessels engaged in the carriage of dry cargoes.
Maritime Employer's Liability
Insurance specifically designed to provide cover for employees who may be required to operate on or from vessels from time to time but where their employer does not own or operate the vessel itself.
Marine General Liability
Thomas Miller Specialty is able to offer an extensive programme specifically designed to provide operators of shore and dockside facilities, primary third party liability coverage. Cover is designed specifically for ship repair yards, terminal operators, marine contractors, wharf operators and stevedore operations, with the policy form having been specifically crafted, in conjunction with the main Marine General Liability wording.
Business Interruption Cover for Cruise Ships
Tailor-made cover for owners, charterers and operators of cruise vessels. It protects the revenues of the participants of the cruise industry against the very special perils involved with this particular part of the marine and the tourist industry.
Offshore
Covering all property, control of well and liability for all upstream oil and gas operations worldwide, for the full life-of-field operations. We provide a range of standard insurance covers for operators and contractors but are also keen to provide tailored insurance products and solutions for clients; we do not believe in a ‘One Size Fits All’ approach.
Construction
Thomas Miller Specialty Construction has been established following the cessation of underwriting by Building LifePlans a Thomas Miller owned company, and utilises the depth and experience built up within BLP to provide market leading underwriting, service and latent defects cover for mixed use developments within the UK, supported by an in house risk solutions subsidiary providing technical audits and complementary consultancy services.
